Let's Start

1 · Capture

Take the photo

Sticker, stamp, or photo card. Choose before you press the shutter.

The CapDex camera in Sticker mode: an apple framed by corner brackets, with Sticker selected. The CapDex camera in Stamp mode: an apple inside a perforated postage-stamp frame, with Stamp selected. The CapDex camera in Photo mode: an apple inside a white instant-photo frame, with Photo selected.

2 · Word card

Make the card

  • The word, twice. In the language you are learning, and in yours.
  • How it sounds. Written out under the picture.
  • Then you confirm. Fix the name if it is wrong, add a note, and file it.
The new card for an apple: Manzana, its pronunciation, Apple, and the Fruit collection, waiting to be confirmed.

3 · The card

Word, examples, insight

  • The card itself. The picture, the word, and what it means in your language.
  • View examples. Three sentences, each in both languages. Tap a word.
  • What is this? A longer explanation of the thing in the photograph.
  • In either language. One tap swaps the whole sheet between the two you chose.
The Manzana card, with buttons for View examples and What is this.
The card
Three Spanish sentences for manzana, each with an English translation.
Examples
The explanation in English: Apple, with sections on taste and texture, how to eat it, and physical details.
Insight
The same explanation in Spanish: Manzana, with Sabor y textura and Cómo comerla, the language chip reading Español.

4 · Collections

Group them, or make your own

  • Filed as it is made. A new card lands in a collection on its own.
  • Or start one. A name, an emoji, and a colour.
  • Open it later. Every card in that group, in one place.
The Collections tab, with Animals, Fruit, Electronics and Stamp.
Collections
New collection named Fruit, with an apple emoji and a blue colour selected.

5 · Review

Bring the words back

  • The day. What is due, and how many you have learned.
  • Say it. Speak the word, or move on to the next card.
  • Then see it. The card turns over with the meaning and a sentence.
  • A result. The rate, the streak, and the cards you remembered.
The Review tab for Tuesday, Oct 6: ten words learned, and a button to learn five more.
The day
Card two of four: grapes on a dark flashcard reading Uva, with the microphone lit and “Listening…” beneath it.
Say it
The same card turned over: Uva, its pronunciation, “Grape”, and the sentence “¿Quieres una uva?” with its translation.
The answer
Review complete: a two-day streak, ten words learned, and a hundred per cent rate.

6 · Journal

The days you caught them

  • By the day. Each photo stays on the date you took it.
  • The month, two ways. A calendar, or each day listed with the words you caught.
  • The streak sits with it. Photos caught, and days in a row.
The journal calendar for October 2026, photos on the days they were taken, with a two-day streak.
Calendar
October listed by day: a prompt on the 6th, and the words caught on the 5th and the 4th.

7 · Share

Send the sticker to anyone

  • Export it. A PNG with the word on it, ready to save or send.
  • Any app. Messages, Messenger, anywhere a picture goes.
  • It keeps the word. What arrives is the card, not a screenshot.
The share sheet for a Corgi card: the sticker marked PNG ready, a caption field, and Save, Copy and More.
Export
The Corgi sticker sent in Messages, the word Corgi printed under the photograph.
Messages
The same Corgi sticker ready to send in Messenger.

About

CapDex is a vocabulary app that starts with a photograph. One object becomes a card you can hear, file, and review — in the language you are learning, and in your own. Made for iPhone, iOS 18 and later.
